Christmas with Tenebrae at St John’s Smith Square

Posted on 8 July 2014

Tenebrae Consort is delighted to announce its participation in the 29th Annual Christmas Festival at St John’s Smith Square on Thursday 18th December, 2014. Tenebrae will perform a programme entitled ‘What Sweeter Music’, with Christmas repertoire ranging from plainchant, to Rutter, after whose iconic piece the concert is named, to contemporary arrangements of old favourites by the ensemble’s director Nigel Short.

This variety of inspiring music from across the centuries will echo the theme of this year’s Christmas Festival, which celebrates how music can inspire new perspective hope in challenging times. This will also be a new experience for Tenebrae Consort to perform in St John’s and celebrate this historic performance venue in its 300th anniversary year, which has survived fire, lightning, bomb plots and the Blitz!

Don’t miss this unique chance to experience Tenebrae in the intimate settings of St John’s, for an inspiring evening of music which captures the true spirit of Christmas!

Tickets (£10-£25) are available from Monday 14th July at 10am, on the Christmas Festival website and you can read the Festival brochure here.
