Tenebrae presented a concert out of the ordinary. ‘Passion and Precision’ Tenebrae’s leitmotiv, were omnipresent during this candle-lit concert. Almost too beautiful to be true, this choir’s live concert equaled the outstanding quality of its recordings.

Tenebrae gave their candlelit concert in front of a full house. The charismatic director, Nigel Short, is not only a fine conductor but an accomplished composer. ‘The dream of Herod’ is a colourful, expressive and extremely powerful work, both tender and audacious.

Tenebrae realises the dream of every musician. The perfection leaves one speechless. The large audience seemed to agree. How to describe the sophistication, the roundness of these voices, sometimes audacious, sometimes incredibly tender? It all seemed effortless and the singers seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. This is the pinacle of the art, the dream of every musician. Tenebrae figures amongst the greatest of choirs. It has to be said again: the perfection leaves one speechless.
