Victoria Meteyard – Soprano

Victoria (soprano) began singing as a chorister at St Mary’s Collegiate Church, Warwick. She went on to study a degree in Mathematics and Music at Royal Holloway, University of London as a choral scholar, during which time she recorded three CDs and performed in some of the UK’s most prestigious venues, including The Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral. Since graduating in 2016, Victoria has enjoyed singing professionally with a variety of choirs and ensembles such as the Eric Whitacre Singers, the Erebus Ensemble, St Martin’s Voices, The King’s Consort, ORA and as a member of the Choir of the Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London. She is an Apprentice of the Monteverdi Choir for the 2018/19 season and an alumnus of Genesis Sixteen.

Victoria also enjoys performing as a soloist. Recent highlights include Handel’s Dixit Dominus at the Clifton International Festival of Music and with the Thomas Tallis Society/Eamonn Dougan, Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields and his Magnificat at Chichester Cathedral and St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Hannah King – Mezzo-Soprano

Originally from Lancashire, Hannah was a pupil at Chetham’s School of Music before going on to read Music at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she held both choral and instrumental scholarships. Hannah now performs with some of the country’s leading choirs, including ORA and the Gabrieli Consort, and is a member of the chapel choir at the Tower of London. She also works with young people across the UK, leading singing and songwriting workshops for Westminster Cathedral, the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and the Rosehill Theatre, and is an Assistant Leader for London Youth Choir and Assistant Conductor of Highbury Youth Choir. In her spare time, Hannah can usually be found baking or walking other people’s dogs.

Benedict Flinn – Tenor

Benedict graduated in June 2018 from St John’s College Cambridge, where he read Modern and Medieval Languages. He joined Tenebrae’s Associate Artist Scheme in September 2018. As a choral scholar at St John’s he performed and toured extensively with the choir and sang solos in Bach Cantata evensongs and on BBC radio broadcasts. Benedict began as a chorister at St John’s under the directorship of David Hill, and later sang under Andrew Nethsingha. During this time he performed the treble solo in Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Bramwell Tovey and the Huddersfield Choral Society.

Before returning to St John’s, Benedict spent his gap year in Oxford where he sang as a Stipendiary Clerk with Magdalen College Choir under Daniel Hyde. As part of his degree at Cambridge, he spent his third year in France working as a radio presenter at Euradionantes and singing with the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame in Paris.

Benedict will continue at St John’s this year as a Lay Clerk and is looking forward to combining the position with the exciting and challenging Associate Artist programme.

Joseph Edwards – Baritone

Joseph Edwards began singing as a chorister at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, where he had the opportunity to perform at numerous royal occasions including the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. He furthered his love of choral singing as a scholar at King’s College London, and graduated with distinction from the Vocal Studies Masters course at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was awarded the highest graduate diploma (DipRAM) for his final recital. He has studied with Alex Ashworth since 2015.

In 2016 he made his debut at Wigmore Hall in a recital for patients suffering with dementia, their friends, family, and carers as part of an outreach project through the Royal Academy of Music. Performing alongside pianist Joe Cummings, his programme included songs by Schubert, Howells’ Peacock Pie, and Richard Rodney Bennett’s Songs Before Sleep.

Joseph has performed with choirs across Europe and America, and was formerly a lay clerk at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark. He was the Director of Music of Take Note Chamber Choir and works as a freelance soloist across London. He holds a diploma in Music Performance (DipABRSM) and is in the final stages of his LRAM teaching award. He is currently Head of Singing at Ewell Castle School, where he takes pride in helping young singers to explore choral music. Joseph is particularly looking forward to the education and outreach opportunities as an Associate Artist with Tenebrae.
