This new ‘Masterworks of the Renaissance’ programme features the Requiem mass by Tomás Luis de Victoria, a masterpiece of the Spanish Renaissance.
The purity of its unaccompanied voices, weaving in glorious harmony, speaks to the modern heart just as powerfully as it did four centuries ago. The timeless beauty of this music provides the emotional core for a darkly expressive program with Victoria’s lamenting music for Holy Saturday and Allegri’s famous Miserere.
