Tenebrae Schools

Introducing our new schools project – in partnership with our local music hub Ealing Music Service.

Ealing Music Service is delighted to be partnering with The Tenebrae Choir for their schools Programme. With a global reputation as one of the world’s best vocal groups, we are thrilled that Tenebrae will bring their trademark passion and precision to inspire singing for our pupils and teachers, and support learning throughout our primary schools. The programme provides a unique opportunity for children from all backgrounds in Ealing to experience the world-class artists live in school. They will grow in confidence as they learn from, and ultimately perform alongside the outstanding singers, in a diverse and tailor-made programme aligned with the curriculum and our Singing Strategy. Our partnership with Tenebrae is a key part of our mission to secure a rich musical legacy for all our children and young people. We’re looking forward to unleashing the full potential of singing in Ealing in partnership with Tenebrae.”

– Yogesh Dattani, Head of Ealing Music Partnership

Our programme began in 2022, with an immersive music pilot in Clifton Primary School, providing Tenebrae performances for the whole school community, and fortnightly singing in the classroom for 90 Year 5 pupils. Our singers have joined forces with leading music education experts and animatuers, and work with pupils and teachers in a tailored programme, exploring music through singing, composition and improvisation.

Working with Tenebrae gives all our children and their parents the opportunity to value singing and music education. Exposure to the world-class artists has opened their eyes to something completely new. It has inspired the children, helped us to identify and nurture their talents and interests, and given them an insight into the world of professional music, enabling us to fulfil our motto ‘aspire to achieve’.

– Lori Greenglass, Co-Headteacher

This has formed the basis of multi-year partnerships with local primary schools, helping us to embed a long-lasting singing culture in schools which would otherwise face barriers to engagement with music programmes.
