We’re very proud to announce a brand new initiative with Princeton University, kicking off in two weeks’ time at our Russian Treasures concerts in Thaxted and St. Bartholomew-the-Great on the 14th and 15th July.
Four Princeton music students will join the full Tenebrae line up alongside our Associate Artists for these special concerts. Here’s an introduction from their Director of Choral Activities, Gabriel Crouch:
“A little over a year ago, Princeton’s Glee Club was given the chance to sing Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles with Tenebrae, and we realized that there is nothing… no lesson taught, no book read, and no technique practiced… that can substitute for the experience of making music right alongside the best in the business. So, for a lucky quartet of singers from Princeton, this priceless opportunity to spend several days rehearsing and performing with Nigel Short and the singers of Tenebrae will stay with them forever and equip them for an entirely new world of choral singing.
The four students selected for this honour hail from both sides of the Atlantic: soprano Madeline Kushan began her singing career at the National Cathedral of Washington DC; mezzo Mariana Corichi Gomez is an aspiring young conductor hailing from Mexico; tenor Sergei Tugarinov, and baritone Julius Foo both came to Princeton from Eton College in the UK. All four are members of a rapidly expanding choral programme at Princeton.”
