The Journey – 25th Anniversary Album
Bringing together music that has shaped Tenebrae’s identity over the last 25 years with a host of exciting new commissions, The Journey is a major anniversary album celebrating both the choir’s history and its artistic future. Alongside new works by Joby Talbot, Joanna Marsh, Jason Max Ferdinand and Sarah Henderson – winner of Tenebrae’s inaugural Undiscovered Voices competition – the album also includes much‑loved tracks from earlier recordings such as Russian Treasures and Brahms & Bruckner Motets. The Journey will be released in autumn 2026 to coincide with the launch of Tenebrae’s anniversary season, which will see the programme toured internationally throughout 2026–27.
Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir
Later in the season, Tenebrae will release a separate album centred on Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir, which the choir recorded in the beautiful Kloster Fischingen in February this year. Tenebrae was founded in Switzerland in 2001 before Nigel Short moved back to the UK, and it feels fitting to hark back to where it all began by recording this wonderful music from one of Switzerland’s most celebrated composers. Alongside Martin’s choral masterpiece, this album will feature Samuel Barber’s choral arrangement of his phenomenally successful Adagio for Strings.
