The Music of Orlando Gibbons

The Music of Orlando Gibbons

Tenebrae Consort is delighted to collaborate with the world-class viol consort, Phantasm, for this programme of music by Orlando Gibbons.

Gibbons was a towering figure, whose anthems are among the most passionately lyrical of any English music before Purcell. This programme includes some of his sublime viol consorts and unforgettable a cappella choral music. It culminates in performances of three of the extraordinarily expressive verse anthems which affirm his greatness as a composer.
