Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette

The Tenebrae Consort are thrilled to be joining with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and Scottish Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Robin Ticciati for what is set to be a spectacular performance of this compelling work.

Idiosyncratic and thoroughly entertaining, Roméo et Juliette is Hector Berlioz’s very personal take on Shakespeare’s great romantic tragedy, conveyed in sparkling arias, evocative choruses and exotic orchestral movements that demonstrate the great French composer’s highly individual genius.

A starry cast of international soloists – revered Czech mezzo soprano Magdalena Kožená, as well as acclaimed US tenor Kenneth Tarver and Canadian bass John Relyea – join the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and Scottish Chamber Orchestra, under Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati, for Berlioz’s remarkable choral symphony.
