As part of Tenebrae’s 2016 USA tour the choir brings its trademark passion and precision to one of the world’s greatest oratorios, Handel Messiah.

From 1749 onwards Handel’s Messiah was performed at least once every year for the benefit of the Foundling Hospital. Charles Jennens, who selected the texts for the work, created a narrative telling the story of Christ’s Nativity, Passion, Resurrection and Ascension, prefaced by the voices of the prophets and ending in triumphant fulfilment.

Handel’s Messiah remains an ever-popular work that covers a vast range of emotions, from great tenderness and delicacy, to unbridled joy, to immense majesty and power.
