The Tenebrae consort returns to the ‘land of song’ – opening North Wales International Music Festival with a programme delighting in the masterly counterpoint of Thomas Tallis and the hypnotic rhythm of Gregorian chants. Featuring Tallis’ moving Lamentations of Jeremiah, and one of the earliest English-language homophonic motets since the Reformation: the serene If ye love me.
