Eleanor Miles-Kingston – Soprano

Eleanor is a Soprano based in York. She recently graduated from the University of York with a Masters Distinction in Solo Voice Ensemble Singing, under the tutelage of Robert Hollingworth. Her highlights include working with Roderick Williams and being an international scholar for the Canadian Renaissance Music Summer School. Singing and professional performance have been part of her life since Eleanor was a child aged 8 when she began as a chorister at York Minster, later gaining her ARSM diploma at school followed by receiving choral scholarships at both Royal Holloway and then at Queen’s College, Oxford. Currently, Eleanor works as a freelance singer and teacher.

As a singer she has a portfolio career, consisting of ensemble work with York Oratory, York Minster, Ebor Singers, Eton College, Esprimo consort, as well as being on the deputy singers lists for St Martin-in-the-Fields Emerging Artists, Ex Cathedra and Tenebrae. Her recent solo work includes Haydn’s Creation with Holmfirth choral society; Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Vivaldi’s Gloria with York Musical Society; Mozart’s Requiem with St Peter’s School, York; Mozart’s Coronation Mass with York Minster Choir; Handel’s Messiah with both York Musical Society and Esprimo Consort.

As an educator, Eleanor enjoys teaching at the choir school St Peter’s, York and is also looking forward to working at RGS prep in Guilford. Her other interests include languages (she is currently learning A1 German), climbing and knitting (mostly scarves).

Tania Murphy – Alto

Tania is an alto from Belfast, now based in London, working as a freelance singer. She studied Music at the University of York, where she spent three years as an alto choral scholar at York
Minster, becoming the first female undergraduate to hold that position. After her first degree, she went on to complete a Master’s in Solo Voice Ensemble Singing, studying under Robert
Hollingworth.

As a freelancer, she has sung with ensembles including Tenebrae, The Sixteen, I Fagiolini, The Tallis Scholars and The Constellation Choir and Orchestra. She regularly performs in concerts, recordings and broadcasts, and enjoys touring internationally with these groups.

She enjoys the variety of freelance singing, working across different ensembles and projects in the UK and abroad, and is looking forward to working more closely with Tenebrae while continuing to develop her work in the professional choral and consort scene in London.

Harry Gant – Tenor

Harry grew up in Oxford, where he began singing as a chorister in the choir of Magdalen College.

More recently he has been based in Cambridge, where he completed a BA in music, and a MPhil in performance studies, focussing on the art song of Benjamin Britten. During his four years at Cambridge, Harry sang as a choral scholar in the Choir of King’s College. Alongside the daily services with King’s, he was fortunate enough to tour to Australia, America, Canada, and around Europe, as well as taking part in radio and television broadcasts. During this time, Harry also performed regularly as a recitalist and on the opera and concert stage, with recent highlights including the title roles in Handel’s Acis and Galatea and Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo.

Harry is now beginning his career as a freelancer, and has performed with vocal ensembles such as the BBC Singers and The Tallis Scholars. Harry is also well-versed in acapella singing and arranging; he spent a year serving as musical director of The King’s Men, a group made up of the choral scholars at King’s, and at school he was a founding member of ‘The Bachstreet Boys,’ an almost-award-winning barbershop quartet.

When Harry isn’t singing, you’ll most likely find him at the local lido or looking for somewhere to wild swim.

Henry Montgomery – Bass

Henry is a bass from the north of Lincolnshire, and started singing through local musical theatre productions and in the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

His love of choral singing led him to read music at the University of Cambridge, where he sang daily with the Choir of St. John’s College, and in its close-harmony group, The Gents of St John’s. Whilst at university, he balanced choral singing with solo performing, and took part in many university opera society productions and recitals. Henry had the privilege of learning with Joseph Middleton on the Sir Arthur Bliss Lieder Scheme, and performing as Christus alongside Nick Mulroy in performances of the St. John Passion last year.

After graduating, he took up a place as VOCES8’s 2024-25 bass scholar, and a lay clerkship in the prestigious Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, where he sang for millions of people on TV and radio over the Christmas period.

Outside of singing, Henry is a keen footballer and Grimsby Town fan, and has recently become somewhat obsessed with barbershop quartet singing.
