Following the popularity of our recent film of Bruckner’s Locus iste, we are excited to bring you this film of motets by Brahms, Bruckner and Reger. Of the major nineteenth century composers, who largely refrained from composing in the motet style, Brahms and Bruckner are significant exceptions. Seamlessly entwining old and new, these works emerge as masterpieces of the sacred style in the nineteenth century. The inclusion of two pieces by the slightly younger Max Reger is a long-term ambition of Tenebrae’s – these stunning works have long been on Nigel’s wish list.
