Rave Reviews at Lammermuir Festival

Posted on 22nd September 2015

Tenebrae was delighted to be invited back to the Lammermuir Festival this season presenting its new programme of Brahms and Bruckner Motets (in advance of the official launch concert on November 12th). This was followed by a selection of music by Orlando Gibbons with Tenebrae Consort and the fantastic viol consort, Phantasm which received rave reviews:

“…the ethereal vocal purity of Tenebrae… was like heaven on earth.”

***** The Scotsman

“Six-piece viol consort Phantasm and the eight voices of Nigel Short’s Tenebrae delivered impeccable, exquisite performances, breathing and flowing together with near miraculous ensemble and an astonishingly pure sense of intonation… rich, warm and thrillingly expressive… achingly beautiful.”

The Arts Desk

“… impeccable blend… the interior lines gleamingly precise and every word intelligible… heart-stoppingly beautiful.”
