Tenebrae and English Chamber Orchestra perform Handel’s ‘Messiah’

Posted on 14 August 2014

This Christmas, award-winning professional choir Tenebrae, conducted by Nigel Short, will perform the quintessential Messiah of the season in the wonderful surrounds of Cadogan Hall. On Wednesday 10th December 2014 at 7pm, Tenebrae will be joined at Cadogan Hall by the English Chamber Orchestra, one of the world’s leading chamber orchestras, for a must-hear performance of this choral classic. This partnership with ECO builds on an on-going creative relationship between the two groups, whose previous collaborations include two recordings of music by composer Will Todd and a five-star performance of extracts from Mendelssohn’s Elijah at Gloucester Cathedral, in which ‘Tenebrae and the English Chamber Orchestra played their parts with dynamism and excitement’ (Bach Track).

Composed in 1741, Messiah is well established as the key choral performance of the Christmas season. This year, Tenebrae and ECO will join together to perform Messiah like you have never heard it before; the passion, precision and perfection of these internationally-acclaimed musicians will fill Cadogan Hall with Handel’s choral masterpiece this December. The performance will feature some of the UKs brightest emerging soloists: Soprano Grace Davidson, Mezzo Martha McLorinan, Tenor David De Winter and Bass-Baritone William Gaunt.

Tickets: £40, £33,  £25, £18 (ENCORE Members: £5 off top two prices)

Available through the Cadogan Hall Box Office
