Associate Artists Appeal Launch

Posted on 6 September 2019

A flagship programme to develop the most talented young-professional choral singers in the UK.

Having admired Tenebrae for a long time, it has been a real privilege to sing and work with such a talented group of musicians. They have been amazingly supportive and welcoming colleagues.

Under the leadership of the Tenebrae’s Artistic Director, Nigel Short, the Associate Artists scheme is unique amongst professional choirs, as it meets the need for young talent to develop exceptional pedagogic and performance skills in order to sustain a career as a professional singer. A quartet of young professional singers have been selected to work with Tenebrae in 2019-20. They will become immersed in the choir’s busy international performance and recording schedule, and receive training in music pedagogy, enabling them to devise and deliver workshops through our education and community partnerships.

We are delighted to welcome Victoria Meteyard (soprano), Hannah King (mezzo) and Joseph Edwards (baritone), who will join Benedict Flinn (tenor) as Tenebrae’s Associate Artists from September 2019. You can find out more about our current cohort here. The season promises to be spectacular for them, working to promote Tenebrae’s vision to c. 20,000 audience members each year, and inspiring almost 1,000 young singers through our Choral Development Programme.

Tenebrae operates as a registered charity, this programme is made possible by the generous support of a network of Trusts and individual donors who are passionate about our Associate Artists’ work. We are always looking to develop lasting relationships with our donors, and provide them with new opportunities to connect with us through exclusive invitations to rehearsals, recordings and concerts in addition to bespoke ‘behind the scenes’ access.
