Meet the Team

Áine Smith

Áine Smith

Workshop leader

Born in South Wales, Áine began singing with the Nidus Children’s Choir, based in Cwmbran. With this group, she performed a number of times at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, and in 2015, competed in the World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia. Áine went on to read Music at Merton College Oxford, graduating in 2021 with a first-class degree. In 2022, Áine graduated with Distinction from a Masters of Studies in Musicology at Merton, where her research concerned musical concepts of the body. Throughout her time at Oxford, Áine held a choral scholarship with the Merton College Choir and the Magdalen College Consort of Voices. Now based in London, Áine is enjoying building a professional portfolio with various groups such as Sestina Music, the Armonico Consort and the ORA Singers. She is an alumna of Genesis Sixteen, the St-Martin-in-the-Fields Emerging Artists and the Tenebrae Associate Artists programmes. As a soloist, Áine has performed alongside Rachel Podger at the Brecon Baroque Festival, and with the London Bach Society.

Áine is extremely passionate about access into higher education and choral music, and is thrilled to be joining the Tenebrae Education team as a Leader this year.
